About Delante Dressage

Delanté Dressage is owned and operated by Luis “Lou” Reteguiz-Denizard.

Lou became a professional in the equine industry in 1990.  Before that, he developed himself in many facets of the equestrian world. He was a mounted park ranger, a working student for several equine professionals, and did an internship in Germany that lasted 6 months.

Upon graduating from the University of Massachusettes in Equine Science, he embarked on a position as an assistant farm manager for Huntington Farm in Vermont, Director of Riding at Black Forest Hall in Michigan, Manager of Herd at Culver Academy in Indiana, and Director of Riding at Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island.  After five years at the later, he started his own business Delante Dressage in 1998.  He was already a USDF Certified Instructor through 4th level and a USDF L Judge with Distinction leading into the beginning of Delante Dressage. After a few years in business, he was awarded the Dressage Foundation “Anders Lindgren Scholarship” and the “NEDA Scholarship for Professionals”. He returned to train and study in Europe, this time in Holland.  He returned after three months and was teamed up with his first international horse Nalando. He and Nalando representing Puerto Rico competed at the 2007 Rio de Janeiro PAN AM Games, the 2010 Central American Games in Puerto Rico, 2011 Guadalajara PAN AM Games. They were never outside of the top half of competitors.

Then Lou was teamed up with Royal Affair his second international horse. With him, he went on to the 2014 Central American Games in Vera Cruz, Mexico, and the 2015 Toronto PAN American Games. He placed 4th and 11th respectively in each.

Lou is known for his ability to work with difficult and misunderstood horses bringing out the best in them.  He is also known for his ability to impart his knowledge to his students and help them achieve their bronze, silver, and gold medals.
